The UCD anatomy department facilitate a module for the medical students that includes a basic introduction to FAST scanning. This is the second year that some folk from PoCUS Ireland and the Mater have been involved.
We covered the basic views and cover some images of abnormals and everyone gets some hands on scanning with some willing volunteers.
Very few universities have any exposure to PoCUS or ultrasound in general at an undergraduate level. Internationally this is becoming quite a big thing with the integration of PoCUS from early in the course to help correlation with anatomy teaching.
Thanks again to Catriona Tiernan from UCD for the invite and to Vinny Ramiah, Tomás Breslin, Rory Whelan and Michael Quirke for doing the teaching.
