VTE Dublin is into its second year now and growing strongly. VTE is a funny old disease with no on specialty “owning” things. It makes for a great chance to collaborate with other specialties and learn new tricks. PoCUS fits wonderfully with VTE as it has key roles in diagnosis and management in both diagnosis and management decisions in DVT and PE.
The literature base for PoCUS in VTE is really growing and the pre conference workshop was a great chance to introduce both novices and the experienced to some new PoCUS skills.
We drew heavily on the expertise of our faculty which included vascular medicine, EM, anaesthesia, respiratory medicine and radiology.
The workshops were a mix of brief lectures bracketed by rotating stations of ultrasound machines, all with their own willing model. We had 10 machines staffed with faculty and models and there was plenty of chance for reinforcing things.
If you’re interested in a well ran and remarkably inexpensive ultrasound workshop then look out for the 2017 conference.
